The totals help order results next time. Browsers the counter reads as people are counted; machines are counted separately. A question someone has asked before keeps its answer for the next person who asks it the same way. When you open the ants from a page, your question travels with that page, this tab's recent searches and the results opened from them (in the tab's sessionStorage for two hours), the map view if a map is open, and a location you already gave the site in that tab; the answer uses them for that question.
