วันช้างไทย 13 มีนาคมของทุกปี ตามมติคณะรัฐมนตรี 26 พฤษภาคม 2541 — วันที่เลือกคือวันที่คณะกรรมการคัดเลือกสัตว์ประจำชาติมีมติให้ช้างเผือกเป็นสัตว์ประจำชาติ (13 มีนาคม 2506) ตามที่เล่าสืบกัน วันนี้ปางช้างและศูนย์อนุรักษ์ช้างไทยที่ลำปางจัดทำบุญให้ช้าง เลี้ยงผลไม้ (สะโตกช้าง) และพิธีสู่ขวัญช้างในบางแห่ง ถามปางใกล้บ้านว่าจัดอะไร · Thai Elephant Day, 13 March every year, set by a Cabinet resolution of 26 May 1998 — the date, it is told, recalls 13 March 1963, when the committee choosing the national animal chose the white elephant. Camps and the Thai Elephant Conservation Center in Lampang make merit for the elephants, lay out fruit (the elephant ‘satok’) and some hold a su khwan for their elephants; ask the nearest camp what it is doing.
