What it is

A village north of Mae Hong Son settled by Chinese Yunnanese, on a reservoir, with tea terraces and the border immediately behind it.

The long version

Chinese Yunnanese are one of the named population groups of Mae Hong Son province. Inference — this village is the most visible expression of that on the circuit: the food is Yunnanese, the tea is grown on the slopes above, and the architecture is not Thai.

It is a dead end. The road goes there and comes back, which means an afternoon out of Mae Hong Son rather than a leg of the loop — and which is a large part of why a rider should give Mae Hong Son two nights.
