1,186 people. 248 Thai. Five of those are women.
ColbyOtero.com · CC BY 2.0What it is
A census of everyone Wikidata records as a Thai boxer by occupation. It is a fact about the encyclopedia, not about the sport, and the gap between the two is the reason to print it.
The long version
Two cohorts came back, and the difference between them is the health warning. 1,186 people carry the occupation Thai boxer. Another 321 carry only the sport property — and sorted by how many Wikipedias hold an entry, the top of that second list is Batman.
Even inside the occupation cohort the ranking is useless: Shaquille O'Neal, Donnie Yen and Joe Rogan all sit above every Thai fighter, because a sitelink count measures fame, and their fame is from elsewhere. So this project does not rank anybody off this data. It counts.
By country: Thailand 248, the United States 111, the Netherlands 65, France 59, the United Kingdom 43, Brazil 37, Russia 35. Two hundred and fifty carry no nationality at all.
By decade of birth: the 1980s peak at 419, then the 1990s at 250 and the 1970s at 222.
By gender: 966 men, 179 women, one kathoey, one trans woman, 39 unstated. Of the 248 Thai, five are women.
Inference — five is not a fact about Thai women who fight. Thailand's women's cards are full and its gyms are full. Five is a fact about who gets written up, and the same gap swallowed Apidej Sit Hirun, who has no English article at all.
