What it is

The second set of fifteen, taught after the first. The Thai encyclopedia's line is that a student works the mae mai before the luk mai will take.

The long version

Erawan tosses its tusks. Thotsakan carries off the lady. Rama draws the bow. Hanuman presents the ring. Hiranyaksha rolls up the earth and carries it to the bottom of the sea. A naga dives to the underworld.

Then, in the middle of that, number two: batha lup phak, the foot strokes the face. The one name in all thirty that describes the movement instead of drawing a picture — and it still reaches for Sanskrit to do it, bāda for foot and vaktra for face, where everyday Thai has thao and na.

The rest of the set is household: threading a garland, slicing a gourd, an elder sweeping the temple courtyard, a swan with a broken wing, a deer looking back over its shoulder.
