How it was counted. Along each way in the network proper, the distance accumulated between consecutive intersection nodes; the median of those runs per zone.
What it is
The median run of road between two intersections, per zone: 59 m inside the moat, 59 m to 3 km, 56 m to 5.5, 56 m to 9, 65 m beyond. The means are longer everywhere because a few long runs on the highways pull them.
The long version
Inference — the spread is narrower than the other measures because a hom is a hom everywhere: two metres wide and a house every fifteen. The difference between the zones is not how long the lanes are but whether they come out.
