What it is
The northern Shinkansen line: Bangkok–Phitsanulok 380 km, Phitsanulok–Chiang Mai 288 km, 668 km in all (688 by Isranews), 445,303 million baht for both phases. Cabinet approvals 2012; a memorandum with Japan's transport ministry 2015. In October 2024 phase one was postponed until Bangkok–Nong Khai is done; phase two is targeted for 2033–42. There is no Chiang Mai–Lampang line on its own.
