The outer ring, about 9 km out: a 52.957 km closed loop through Hang Dong, Saraphi, San Kamphaeng, Doi Saket, San Sai and Mae Rim, crossing the Ping twice. The west side runs along the irrigation canal, a 9.3 km road the Royal Irrigation Department built and handed to the highway department on 9 April 1998. Begun 1994 by the Lampang highway centre as two lanes, Ping to Hang Dong first, delayed by expropriation and the 1997 crash. The Hang Dong–university section, 11 km and four lanes, was built April 2002 to June 2004 for 332 million baht. The 2024 counts read 42,336 vehicles a day at km 1 and 21,476 at km 38.
The long version
Five interchanges are under tender for 3,145 million baht in total, due 2027: Samoeng at Route 108 (920 million), the Superhighway at Route 11 (700), Louis at Route 1006 (650), Kong Sai at Route 106 (445) and San Klang at Route 1317, phase 2 (430). The 16.3 km from Route 108 to Route 1006 is being widened to four and six lanes for 1,500 million. A 20.9 km elevated road along the Don Kaew–Mueang Kaew stretch is under study.
